At the age of 11, Anthony Crawford happened to find a guitar in his sister's closet. Growing up in an all Mexican area, he befriended the members of an all-Mexican band, who took him under their wing and taught him mariachi music. At 14, he started to play rock, his determination already apparent when he managed to convince one of the teachers at the local music store to give him lessons in return for washing his car twice a week.

In later teens, Spitfire started playing in bands around LA at the same time, every type of band I could ie.. rock, rap, R'n'B - even grindcore and deathmetal. Disillusioned by the music industry, at age 22 Spitfire joined the Air Force and after 9/11, took up residence in the Middle East. At night in the dessert he would sing and play guitar to the troops to take their minds off what they were going through. But the military was not the life for Spitfire, and he was eventually sent back to the US after starting to ask too many questions. There and then, he decided he'd have to become a rock star. A chance meeting with Shifty from Crazytown led to Spitfire helping the artist write his solo CD. In return, Shifty introduced Spitfire to Paul Oakenfold, who immediately spotted the fiery young guy's raw talent, and signed him to Perfecto Records.
